Geez Eric65, instead of being snotty and condescending you could post a link to the SUPERIOR recording you find so much better. That would be much more kind. I'll post 4 stars to bring the rating back up.

Here, let me fix that misleading rating for those people trying to decide which of the 4 versions to listen to.

But I always surmised that the truest Dylan backup band was the GD. Even more so than the Band and the Nashville cats he played and recorded albums with. Perhaps what would have made this configuration go completely over the top would have been for Jimi Hendrix to get in on it. Sadly, Jimi cannot come down.

This is not a really fine recording but it is adequate. I love the jingle jangle of the 6 am tambourine feel of it.

Yes, I know the two entities had their differences and their demons to exorcise. And I know that most of the Dylan and the Dead commercial recordings are somewhat disappointing.

But over the decades I have had to develop new ears of listening and new ears of hearing and I have had to adapt. And, as a result, I am happy to proclaim that I have well-adapted to this presentation.

And so I must award this concert, as it is, a full 5 stars.

True, as previously stated, the recording is a tad bit rough but that should not discourage you.
It's rad if you turn it up loud!

Totally love Baby Blue. It's definitely an all-time keeper version. On the last chorus Dylan drops out and Jerry, Bobby and Brent fill in admirably on two go-a-rounds and the outro. Pure magic.

Memphis Blues Again resplendent. This tune is not only one of my favorite Dylan tunes but it is one of my favorite GD tunes. This song was made for their eventual marriage on parade.

And yes, Mr Jones, I must include the Ballad of the Thin Man in this review. It is truly an inspired performance ~ all around. Listen to Jerry's mid-verse pleadings. Sensational. Jerry's lead break goes beyond the pale. Pure heart opened wide, pure honest and heartfelt emotion.

What more may I add? All, from this point, is all I can do but subtract...
